Adele, the English singer and songwriter drops new single, “Easy on Me” as a way to introduce her upcoming album 30. But that’s not all, she released a music video as well!
Adele Plans to Release 30 in November
About 6 years ago, Adele released her previous album 25 leaving fans in awe over her lovely ballads. However, the fans are ready to hear what is in store for her new music as “Easy on Me” represents a journey to self discovery. Adele’s last leading single, “Hello” which dropped in 2015, had a very heartbroken feel to it. Whereas, in “Easy on Me,” she talks about learning from past mistakes.
“Easy on Me” Music Video
Adele kicked off the start of the video as she was leaves a mostly empty house with a suitcase in her hand. On her way out, she answers her phone explaining that everything is packed and that she’s on her way out. This may possibly be a reference to her “get up and go” friend she mentioned in her album announcement. Adele said, “The get up and go friend who would pick me up and take me somewhere I said I didn’t want to go but just wanted to get me out the house for some vitamin D.”
Brief Lyrical Break Down of “Easy on Me”
Throughout Adele’s newly dropped single, “Easy on Me” Adele addresses what seems like a never ending battle within herself. As the song opens with “There ain’t no gold in this river that I’ve been washing my hands forever.” She presumably refers to her ex-husband, Simon Konecki, who she divorced from just this year. Followed by the lines “I know there is hope in these waters/But I can’t bring myself to swim/When I am drowning in this silence baby let me in” she is reflecting on her past relationship and the embarrassment she felt about not being able to make it work. Continuing to try would only cause her more pain. That was when she knew the marriage had to end.
