Nashville-based alt-pop artist Caroline Romano released her latest single, “Panic Attack,” arriving on the heels of “Ireland in 2009.”
“Panic Attack” is a Preview of Caroline’s Debut Album
This is going to be Caroline’s year. She has been releasing a lot of new music for the past year, and she’s ready to share even more. Because guess what, along with “Panic Attack,” she is also announcing that her debut album, Oddities and Prodigies, is coming on February 25.
“Panic Attack” is a stripped-back serenade that highlights the intimacy of Caroline’s songwriting. In the serene ballad, she describes the feeling of getting older and basically, not knowing what to do with your life. “Had a panic attack. Said I’m never going back. To school and I left that day. Drove 6 hours home. In the car all alone. It’s the tale of how I went insane. Staring up at the ceiling. Will I make it past the feeling?” she sings in the opening verse.
Caroline commented, “I wrote ‘Panic Attack’ in a parked car after one of the worst panic attacks I’ve ever experienced. I had just gotten off the phone with my mom, frantic because I didn’t know what to do or how to help myself. The only thing I knew to do was to write it all down. It’s still not something I can fully put into words, but writing this song helped pull me out of my own head. I’m an incredibly anxious person and I’ve struggled with my mental health for as long as I can remember, which is why it felt so important to spotlight ‘Panic Attack’ as a single. The last line of the song is, ‘I think I’m gonna be okay,’ because I truly believe that— I believe it for myself and for anyone listening. We’re going to be more than okay.”
Oddities and Prodigies will include “Panic Attack” along with other previously-released singles like “The Hypothetical,” “Ireland In 2009,” “Lonely Interlude,” and, of course, the title track “Oddities and Prodigies.” Save the date for February 25!
