After heating up the anticipation to a boiling point, Clever unleashed his album, Crazy, last week. The Alabama singer/rapper has been making a name for himself with features for Justin Bieber, Juice WRLD, and more.

Clever can be most noted for his strong vocals that are reminiscent of punk rock. He uniquely carries out every note and puts his soul into every word he spits. His singing is definitely a refreshing take on trap music and fits his dark image to a tee.

In 2021, bulldozed his way on the scene with buzzing single “Life’s A Mess II” [feat. Juice WRLD & Post Malone]. The single amassed 4 million-plus and counting Spotify streams in addition to garnering critical acclaim right out of the gate.

After appearing on Juice WRLD’s chart-topping debut, Death Race for Love, CLEVER unleashed the mixtape Who Is Clever. The standout “Stick By My Side” [feat. NLE Choppa] racked up 22 million Spotify streams and turned Post Malone into a fan, leading to an eventual deal with his label Posty Co.

Clever Goes Crazy

Now, Clever has dropped his first full-length studio album, Crazy, and his dark and dreamy vibe is felt in every track. Clever Has recruited some big names to accompany the hard-hitting tracks as well. With Lil Wayne on “Call Me Nobody” to Chris Brown on “Rolls Royce Umbrella” some of the biggest names in music mix well with the rising star.

In addition, the album is also somewhat a tribute to friend, Juice WRLD who died in 2019 due to an overdose. Clever reflects conversations and memories he had with the mega-star in songs like “Its All Bad” and “Dreams“.

Crazy threads together an unforgettable trip through Clever’s mind. He goes through the pain of losing friends and questions what comes after this life. Although some of the tracks feel identical to the next, Clever has put together a pretty solid project.

Overall, If a Tim Burton character hopped off screen and made hip-hop, it might sound like this. Shuddering with emotion, teeming with seduction, and jarring with attitude, Clever’s smooth and slurry delivery looks to be the future of Hip-Hop.
