J.I.D Flows On “29 (Freestyle)”
Destin Choice Route, better known by the stage name J.I.D, recently released his newest single, “29 (Freestyle).” The Atlanta-born artist debuted his new song at this year’s Governors Ball Music Festival in NYC. He then dropped the Waboosh-directed music video the day after. In the music video, J.I.D pairs his rap with a successful fishing trip. Give it a watch below!
J.I.D has teased his long-awaited third album The Forever Story for a while now, and fans are ready for new music from him. His first album, The Never Story, came out in 2017, and his second, DiCaprio 2, was released in 2018. Fans hope The Forever Story will be released soon, and that “29 (Freestyle)” will be part of it.
Despite about 4 years without a J.I.D album, fans haven’t been necessarily starved for his music. J.I.D has been participating in collaboration after collaboration. The list goes from “Dope” with John Legend to a remix of “Home” with Mike Dimes. “Surround Sound” with 21 Savage and Baby Tate to “Enemy” with Imagine Dragons. Song after song with artist after artist has kept longtime fans and newcomers alike busy with classically clever J.I.D lyrics.
However, music isn’t the only kind of collaboration J.I.D has been up to. According to Aaron Williams from Uproxx, the rapper partnered with the Seattle-based pizza chain MOD Pizza for a generous campaign, “Random Acts of MODness.” In 2021, J.I.D and MOD Pizza gave a new car to a fan who had lost her job, lost her health insurance, and got her car totaled. After kicking off the campaign, J.I.D took to Twitter and offered “three wishes” to more of his fans in need. Check out his message below!

After delivering the car to the fan, J.I.D and MOD Pizza also helped a first-generation student, ICU nurses, and a second-grade teacher asking for school supplies.
