Justin Bieber is currently on the North American leg of his Justice World Tour. Unfortunately, has recently had to postpone recent performances due to an unspecified illness. On Friday, the international popstar elaborated on the illness. Sadly saying he is suffering from Ramsay Hunt Syndrome and facial paralysis.
Explaining Ramsay Hunt Syndrome
In his Instagram video, Justin’s face is visibly paralyzed on one side. He says, “This eye is not blinking. I can’t smile on this side of my face. This nostril will not move… I’m just physically not capable of [doing shows].” Ramsay Hunt Syndrome is caused by the same virus as shingles, which causes blisters in the ear, hearing loss and facial paralysis.
Current Postponed Tour Dates
At present, Justin Bieber has postponed his performances in Toronto, Washington, D.C. and New York and Philadelphia. A short time after posting the clip to his Instagram, Bieber asked for prayers from his fans as he was having trouble eating.
Justin Bieber Says He Needs to Slow Down
News of Justin’s diagnosis comes just months after his wife, Hailey, suffered from a “mini stroke.” Justin explains in his video, “My body’s telling me I’ve got to slow down. I hope you guys understand.” Though fans are surely disappointed in not being able to see him perform, it’s important for the “Ghost” singer to rest. JB says he will be using this downtime to relax, and that his face will “go back to normal” with time.
At the end of the nearly three minute video, Bieber thanks fans for their patience. Meanwhile, he also hopes they understand his need to postpone. Bieber states that he will soon get back to doing “what he was born to do,” but first must rest. Fans have been flooding the internet with well-wishes for the 28-year-old.
