JVCKJ & The Meaning of PASTEL

Many people have heard of the duo group Jack & Jack. They’ve had hit singles “Rise” and “Nothing compares to you.” JVCKJ is the duo’s Jack Johnson, and he just released his first-ever EP as a solo artist: PASTEL.

Although he hinted on Twitter that he is still together with his childhood friend in the duo group, fans aren’t sure if new songs are going to happen anytime soon. When Jack first announced his solo EP, fans were nothing but supportive. They were excited to get new music from him and keep supporting his career.

Last Saturday, he performed the EP for fans for the first time on a live stream concert. The show started by having a panoramic view of different scenes of nature, and Jack speaking in the background. He explained how PASTEL means “Progression Always Starts Through Experiencing Life” and “Humans always have room for improvement.”

The Setlist of the Concert

When the intro came to an end, he said “I’m here for the memories. Welcome to PASTEL.”  Right after that, the camera went on. We see Jack sitting by the piano. He starts playing “City of Thrills” and has a smooth transition into his next song “You lie,” released in September.

“Bad news” was next on the setlist. He stood up and said “Hopefully next time I see all of you, it’s in person. 2020 has been a sh*t show. 2021, we’re ready for ya.

“1+1=2” and “Step up” were up next. He started playing the guitar and invited people to make noise from home. Then he said, “This is for my tequila lovers out there” and performed “Casamigos.” He gave a good message to the public, stating: “Expand your horizons, day by day or you’re never going to make progress. We’re young, there’s a lot of time left for us.”

Sadly, the concert had to come to an end, and he said goodbye to fans. “Thank you guys for tuning in, keep progressing in life. I love you so much, goodnight!” He finished the show by playing “Patience.”
