Last week, Grammy-winning artist Kali Uchis climbed to the top of the Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Charts. This the first time the Latin R&B/ Soul singer has reached a number one spot all with her smash hit “telepatía.”
The single alone has accumulated over 635 million streams and is #1 on Billboard’s Latin Digital Song Chart. In Addition, the track remains on several Spotify Top 200 charts and is #2 at Latin Pop Airplay radio.
Released on November 18th, 2020, most people know the song right away because of TikTok. Even though the track is mostly sang in Spanish, its most popular part is the English bridge and course.
And on June 4, Kali Uchis will share an acoustic EP, featuring pared back versions of “telepatía”. There with also be other tracks from her second studio album, Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios).
The original album released by Interscope Records received widespread critical acclaim and features singles “La Luz” with Jhay Cortez and “Aquí Yo Mando” with Rico Nasty with appearances by PARTYNEXTDOOR and Jowell & Randy.
It is unclear if these features will appear on the EP. Regardless, it will still be worth it hearing all the other renditions of songs.
Kali Uchis Has Been Blowing-Up
Furthermore, this year has been quite the blow-up for Kali Uchis and her unique sound. She won her first Grammy for Best Dance Recording with Kaytranada for “10%” at the 2021 Grammy Awards earlier this year and was nominated for Favorite Pop Album for the Latin American Music Award last month, and was the only female nominated in the category.
Additionally, she won “Canción Alternativa Rock/Indie” and “Artista Revelación” at Premios Nuestra Tierra, a Colombian music awards show.
Although, Kali Uchis hasn’t been nominated for any of this year’s award shows, like the Billboard Music and iHeartMusic Awards, the artist’s still dominated 2020. Hopefully with the new EP coming soon Kali will earn even more notoriety for her silky smooth music.
