Lewis Capaldi is going to be giving fans a look into his life and early career in a new upcoming documentary made over the last five years.

From Performing at Pubs to Worldwide Stardom

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame over the past 36 months. He earned a Grammy nomination and BRIT award for his debut single “Someone You Loved”. He also earned a second BRIT for best new artist and sold out an arena tour before he’d even released his debut album.

It’s a stark contrast to his life just three years ago when he was still carrying his own gear while performing in Scottish bars and pubs. The film follows Lewis Capaldi over a five-year period. From a global headline tour to returning to his parent’s home in Scotland to start work on his sophomore album.

Lewis Cares About his Fans

Alistair Norbury, President, Repertoire & Marketing at BMG UK, said to MusicWeek, “We are delighted to help bring this project to life with Lewis and of course Pulse and Quickfire Films. Lewis is a compelling character who has a genuine and deep connection with fans. This release further demonstrates our commitment to support artists across every service area. From records to publishing, film to books, neighboring rights, and increasingly artist management and live too.”

Lewis Capaldi said to MusicWeek, “If the immense pressure of writing and recording a second album that has to live up to the expectations of so many people I’ve never met; while also attempting to eclipse the commercial success of my previous album wasn’t enough; I decided to film the process in its entirety for your viewing pleasure. I’m very excited to potentially capture the making of the best album of all time. More likely, to permanently document the scorching of my dreams; as years of my life’s work is received like a pile of flaming shite. Either way, it’s going to be lots of fun and will be lovely to have people along for the ride.”

Independent Entertainment will be representing the production at the forthcoming Cannes Virtual Film Market later this month. (June 21-25.)
