Saturday Night Live wraps its 2021 season this week with a bang as the musical guest is Lil Nas X. Hosting will be Actress from Netflix’s Queen’s Gambit, Anya Taylor-Joy.

This is the perfect stage for the quickly rising star and his unpredictable energy to perform on and we can’t wait. After causing and massive amount of commotion for the video to “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” it should turn out to be an interesting performance.

His latest hit “Montero” debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100. After giving him a second number-one hit, it also went platinum.

Lil Nas X’s ‘Old Town Road’ hit has also shattered records and industry conventions. The track got the rookie artists his first Grammy wins for a track that sparked a wider cultural conversation about the hallmarks of country music itself.

He will most likely preform those two songs for the show as the crazy SNL season comes to a close. It will also be entertaining to see if Lil Nas makes an appearance in a skit or two.

Album Is Calling Lil Nas X’s Name

Shortly after the release of his blazing single, Lil Nas X announced some huge news. He tweeted out that his next project and debut album will be titled Montero and the project is due this summer.

As of late too he put a cryptic tweet announcing the date of some new music releasing this Friday on May 21. It is unknown if this will be one of the songs he will perform.

We will see how Lil Nas X can handle to pressure of the SNL stage, but it  looks like he’s becoming more than just a viral sensation. This sophomore album will tell us if he’s really about the music and growing or just about the attention.

Be sure to also tune in and watch Lil Nas X and Chris Martin present Elton John with the 2021 iHeartRadio Icon Award on May 27.
