Singer-songwriter and actress Mandy Moore announced the release of her upcoming album In Real Life, out on May 13. Celebrating the news, she will be going on tour this summer.
In Real Life Will Be Her First Album in Two Years
Mandy’s new project In Real Life will arrive via Verve Forecast this May. The album will land as the follow-up to 2020’s Silver Landings, which was her first album in 13 years. Nevertheless, she recently released the title track of the album, “In Real Life.”
Her upcoming album will include a total of 11 songs, all of them being solo songs. As a result, the album will have no artist features. Alongside the title track “In Real Life,” the album will incorporate other unreleased songs like “Heartlands;” “Little Dreams,” “Just Maybe,” and “Four Moons.”
The Record Will Explore Personal Topics Like Parenthood
“So much of this record came from future-tripping on the next chapter of my life and what it might look like: what parenthood would feel like, how it would change everything, and all the excitement and trepidation that comes with that,” Mandy says. “At the same time, it was about celebrating and acknowledging where we were at the moment and really trying to be completely present in every day—which is maybe the hardest part of the human condition.”
She continues, “To me it’s all about staying open, staying aware, staying sensitive and empathetic to the people around me,” she says. “There’s something about expressing myself through lyrics and melody that makes me feel whole, and I see it as a privilege to have that outlet. And even though this album is very specific to me and my experience — there are songs about my baby, my husband, my father, my friends — I hope everyone’s able to see their own lives in it. I hope they’re able to come along on the journey with me and put themselves in the driver’s seat.”
Mandy is Touring North America This Summer
Along with the album, Mandy announced an expansive summer headlining North American tour; which will be her first in over a decade. The tour will kick off in Atlanta on June 10 and will visit 26 major cities including New York, Nashville, Austin, and Salt Lake City until it reaches its end in Los Angeles on July 22. However, she is also set to perform at Newport Folk Festival on July 24. All dates and tickets are available here.
