Moneybagg Yo Drops ‘A Gangsta’s Pain’

Moneybagg Yo’s is showing all his pain with the hefty LP A Gangsta’s Pain that dropped Friday. The 22 track project has a quick pace than his usual rapping, but Moneybagg is still coming with the bars.

This is Moneybagg’s first project in 2021 and except for some single releases, he’s been pretty quiet. Last year, however, we saw an overflow of content from the trap rapper. He collaborated with Black Youngsta on Code Red on top of releasing his third studio album Time Served.

Now, Moneybagg Yo is back fairly quickly with his fourth studio album. Before the release, Moneybagg dropped a few songs that quickly rose to some of his most popular songs. Singles like “GO!” feat. BIG30. In addition, “Time Today” also gained lots of popularity back in February.

The Project features appearances from Future, Polo G, Lil Durk, and even Pharrell Williams. Moneybagg is pulling out all the stops and it seems to be working in his favor.

Moneybagg Yo Is In His Bag

His success has been without question, still, Moneybagg looks to be trying to get ahead of the pack with A Gangsta’s Pain. His strong presence and consistent flow help him stand apart from the muddle of southern trap rappers like Young Dolph or Yo Gotti.

Moneybagg actually signed to Yo Gotti’s record label, CMG in 2016 and created his label Bread Gang Music Group. His first three projects have debuted in the Top 20 and this album looks to be no different. With Federal 3X at No. 5 and 43 VA Heartless at No. 16 on the Billboard 200, Moneybagg’s highest charting project was his recent 2020 album. Time Served debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in 2020.

Overall, I think as far as Moneybagg Yo’s studio albums this is his best work so far. It had plenty of variety from him yet didn’t steer too far from what we’ve always heard from the Memphis star. It’s also not bad either that we see a little more vulnerability to truly show us a gangster’s pain.
