Greek Tragedy artist The Wombats finally reached the first position of the U.K. chart with their album “Fix Yourself, Not The World.”

Fix Yourself, Not The World

‘Fix Yourself, Not The World’ made incredible numbers in few weeks since the release on January, 22. Despite not charting in the US, the album ranked No. 1 on both the OCC charts’ UK Albums and UK Independent Album. It also ranked no. 2 in ARIA’s Australian Albums chart.

‘Fix Yourself, Not The World’ adds multiple influences to the alternative rock and indie rock that characterize The Wombats’ music. Formed in Liverpool in 2003, English band The Wombats made themselves a name with their first album, 2007 “Proudly Present… A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation.” The 13 song album and the following releases all maintains a linear theme that slowly evolved during the years. R&B and electronica are now a fundamental part of the album and the band’s developed sound.

The WombatsThis No. 1 is the first for The Wombats. In fact, only three other times the trio – Matthew Murphy, Tord Øverland Knudsen, Dan The Man- reached the top 5, but never hit the No. 1 position before. In the cases of 2011’s “The Wombats Proudly Present: This Modern Glitch” and 2018’s “Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life,” that came to the position No. 3, and 2015’s “Glitterbug,” that concluded the climbing at the fifth position.

“It’s been an amazing journey since we started back in 2003 and this is such a career milestone for us,” wrote the band. “We did it! Indie Landfill Forever. D, M & T x.”

Greek Tragedy

“Glitterbug” is also the album that contains The Wombats’ biggest hit, Greek Tragedy. In 2020 the band obtained more supports with the TikTok trend of their song Greek Tragedy. The 2015 song originally appeared on their album “Glitterbug.” After five years, the version of the song covered by Oliver Nelson became popular on the social platform and brought back The Wombats’ album. At the moment, the song has more than 175 million Spotify streams and counting!
