Last year, Katy Perry released her fifth studio album Smile. ‘Not the end of the world’ is the fourth single off the album. Katy got her doppelganger and actress Zooey Deschanel to play her in the music video.

Katy Perry Used to Pretend to be Zooey

Not many people know this, but Katy confessed that when she was younger and she wasn’t a singer yet, she would pretend to be Zooey so she could get into clubs.

This would work all the time. During her “Teenage Dream” era specifically, a lot of people would say that these two looked like twins. “When I first got to LA, I went to the club a lot, and I wanted to get into the club and I had no money and I had no clout. I had nothing,” Katy told Zooey. “And sometimes I would pose as you to get into the club.”

Now, Zooey Pretends to be Katy!

Well, Katy found use of the old joke. In her newest music video, aliens to capture Katy to save her from Earth, which is about to be destroyed. Instead, they end up capturing Zooey mistaking her for Katy. After failed tries from Zooey to make the aliens see that she’s not Katy, she quickly changes her mind when she sees that they saved her.

The aliens make Zooey get dressed as Katy during her “Teenage Dream” era. They select a blue wig and a red outfit for her. She then keeps up pretending to be Katy and performs for them, and finally, saving the Earth from destruction.

‘Not the end of the world’ is about pushing through hard times and knowing that it is not the end of the world. On December 21st, 2020, Katy released the music video for the song, which was filmed right after Perry gave birth. Hence, Deschanel taking on the persona of Katy Perry.
